The Marketing Laboratory at the Athens University of Economics & Business has a long-standing and active presence in the academic and business community and succeeded to become a renowned research centre in marketing.
The Marketing Laboratory was established in the year 2000 with the mission to conduct top-quality empirical research in the area of marketing and support relevant educational activities at the Athens University of Economics & Business.
The A.LA.R.M. has four active research units:
- Marketing and Innovation
- Customer and Sales Management
- Retail Marketing
- Services Marketing
Each research unit is supported by faculty members with relevant research interests and experience. The lab’s faculty has published extensively in leading refereed journals including the Journal of Retailing, Journal of Service Research, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Annals of Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Journal of Advertising Research, Applied Economics, European Journal of Marketing, European Journal of Operational Research, European Management Journal, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, Journal of the Market Research Society, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Product and Brand Management, Journal of Retailing & Consumer Services, Marketing Letters, Psychology and Marketing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, Transportation Research, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, and Journal of International Business Studies, among many others.
The lab’s faculty research output is indeed notable and includes many hundred journal and conference publications, which have received so far several thousand citations in the research literature.
Besides scholarly research, since its launch in the year 2000, the lab has been conducting research studies on behalf of organisations as well as educational programmes and seminars for business executives.
The lab activities are supported by an advanced infrastructure, including 15 workstations, audiovisual facilities, as well as software packages such as the SPSS for data analysis, CATI for conducting telephone surveys (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews), the MarkStrat simulation programme, etc.
Several PhD students work at the laboratory towards completing their doctoral dissertations along with MSc Marketing and Communication students who conduct empirical research for their master theses.
It worth finally noting that the lab’s research activities have attracted considerable mass media coverage with several hundred articles, interviews and reports in newspapers, magazines, trade publications, and broadcast media.
